A Montana violist hooked on the harmonies of Motown and the storytelling of folk. Rachael Cardiello and her band bring an orchestral, magnetic soundscape to their sets: equal parts intimate and fierce with a backbone groove that keeps the dance floor high and vibrant. Bold, neon and electric.

Cardiello's songs take on unusual subjects, tracing the trials and triumphs of a youth spent wrapped in the grief following her father's early death, battling mental illness and weaving a life and love across the Canada/USA border. Whether backed with the dynamite energy of her full band or singing solo on a dusty piano, Cardiello pours her heart into her stories and mesmerizes.

Following the release of her 2013 debut album Warm Electric Winter - an expansive 1960s girl-group and Motown-inspired album featuring a four piece horn section, and members of the Brooklyn Power Funk supergroup Turkuaz - Cardiello honed in her sound to feature a Toronto-based four piece: James Burrows (guitar) Chris Pruden (keys) Connor Walsh (bass) and Ian Morris (drums). Cardiello's sophmore album Sensations in Two Dot - recorded in Syracuse, NY - features this band's collaboration and will be released in 2018.

"The Viola-wielding Cardiello had the kind of unusual stage presence that was infectiously happy – I’m talking involuntary ear-to-ear smiling." - NOW Music

"Warm Electric Winter weaves genres so unbelievably easy, as you dance away in your head to a blues drenched melody you're suddenly taken away to the Pop plains where her voice lends itself to the ages. As I listened to 'Warm Electric Winter' I just couldn't get past how much Rachael's voice reminds me of two of my most favourite female's vocalists Beth Gibbons (Portishead) and Kate Bush, and BTW that's a good thing." "Cardiello wastes no time letting you know you're in new territory with Warm Electric Winter" Eugene Weekly, Oregon

"Cardiello filled the rustic walls with her angelic vocals telling tales of the trials and triumphs of her life.  The sincerity in her performance and the passion with which she played moved listeners to join her in the moment: singing and clappin in beautiful harmony."
